Cardiff City have moved quickly after playoff heartbreak. Dave Jones was shown the door at the end of May and, according to reports, Alan Shearer is a frontrunner for the vacancy.
Shearer's managerial experience is limited to an eight-game stint at Newcastle, in which he could not prevent his beloved club from sinking into the Championship. But his playing career, including 206 goals in 395 games during his time at St. James' Park, earns him instant respect.
Other candidates reportedly include another ex-Newcastle man, Chris Hughton, and Roberto Di Matteo, who left West Brom last season. Expect to see a decision soon, with Cardiff chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee visiting from Malaysia to help with the decision-making process.
