Tennis: Nadal Books Final Date with Djokovic

Despite the pleas of a noisy Centre Court crowd, Andy Murray could not pull off an upset against Rafael Nadal on Friday afternoon. Instead, Nadal advanced to Sunday's final with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Murray sparked optimism among the home crowd with a brilliant first set, in which he served expertly and came up trumps on the big points. But when Nadal stormed back, the Scot had no answer. His shoulders slumped and the belief visibly drained from him as the world number one picked apart his serve while holding his own with ease. Between the second and third set, Nadal won seven straight games.

Though Murray briefly rallied in the fourth set, an early break proved insurmontable as Nadal held his nerve to book another trip to the final. With every gritty win, the Spaniard is moving ever closer to the 'greatest ever' tag.

Standing in his way on Sunday will be Novak Djokovic, who beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon main event for the first time. There is potential in this match-up for another classic final - check back tomorrow for more coverage.
